Part I

1- Backpack (various websites provide information on which one to choose: https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/backpack.html) 2- Lightweight sweater (takes less space) - I carry Lana Merino cuz Merino wool absorbs odour caused by bacteria, traps the smell and keeps them from building up. You can wear this odour-resistant clothing for longer without having to worry about smelling bad. 3- Packable lightweight premium down-puffer mid length jacket - can be used as a pillow too when camping! 4- Raincoat - preferably knee length with hood 5- Lightweight Travel Blanket that folds or rolls neatly - soft, fleecy and warm! 6- Waterproof Crossbody bag - I carry a flat wallet to carry cash/tickets/bank card/ID card, miniature lipstick, miniature gloss, liner, a combination lock (for luggage & works well on hotel doors!) and a set of miscellaneous lotion (I save the sample ones for travelling) 7- Must carry - small-sized deo/body spray, insect repellent spray, chargeable torch, sanitizer, foldable or sleek sunglasses, charger to charge multiple devices, waterproof cloth tape self-adhesive bandage (it's a stretchy & strong wrap tape), D-shaped metal carabiner (different sizes for multiple uses), a foldable multi-function Fork, Spoon, Opener and Knife combination for camping etc (I use stainless steel) 8- Reusable, travel sized, mesh or polyester Laundry bag 9- Daytime, foldable travel bag (can later be used to carry gifts back home!) 10- Soft-padded camera bag with straps 11- A small pouch to carry medicines, bandages, makeup etc

Pack light but pack right!

Part II

1- Backpack (various websites provide information on which one to choose: https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/backpack.html) 2- A water-resistant, down-insulated puffy built to keep wet out & warmth in. Mine is long-sleeved lightweight coat with synthetic insulation, thermal reflectivity & cuffs with thumbholes 3 & 4- Stretchable cotton neutral coloured trousers - surf through YouTube to find multiple, space-saving ways to roll & pack clothes 5- Microfiber quick drying towel is extremely wonderful for sports, travel & camping - practical, compact & lightweight 6 & 7- Neutral coloured stoles/scarves - I often tie elastic bands around them that later come in handy for multiple purposes (to tie plastic bags/hair etc) 8 & 9- Wrinkle-resistant shirts, easy to wash & needs no ironing 10- Thermal wear or body warmer worn as undershirts 11- Cell phone - with screen protector & waterproof case 12- A customized sturdy stainless steel, double-insulated water bottle 13- A compact power bank for emergency charging 14- A warm cap, leg and hand warmer - sometimes better than gloves & mittens You can add / remove according to your travel needs

Pack light but pack right!

About Me

I am a teacher by profession and a freelance writer, photographer  and backpacker by passion. Born and raised in Karachi, I overcame the challenges of being a single parent and ventured out to explore Pakistan as a solo traveler. Starting with small group travels, I, eventually backpacked across Pakistan solo and in small groups, choosing to travel by public transport, living in local homes, and enjoying the simple food the mountains offer.

I am an author of two travelogues, “Gateway to Serenity: The Karakoram Highway” and “Walk to Remember: The Karakoram Highway”. Both books are based on my personal journey across Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, where I share the culture, cuisine, lives, stories, landscape, hospitality, and simplicity of the people with the rest of the world. My passion for nature and adventure began in 2013 and has inspired me to explore the unprecedented mountain ranges since then. I have researched intricate details about every place and included them for the reader’s benefit, while keeping my writing real and authentic without sugar-coating anything.
